Got a new one yesterday, Doxycycline, from the tetracycline antibiotics family. I had been using a clear ointment called Clindamycin Phosphate gel, but clearly, this was just a stop-gap, temporary remedy. My face is looking better, but my chest and back are even more irritated.
So, what's one more medication? I stared Doxycycline yesterday, first pill last night and then again another one this morning. I assume it will to take affect in 24 to 48 hours. I'm still applying gel, as well.
On Monday, I resume Avastin (same frequency, every other week, smaller dosage). Dr. Rudnick believes that a three-pronged effect of Tarceva, Temodar and Avastin will do some damage, so to speak.
Of course, you always have to measure the amount of caustic medication you're putting into your body. I think about it all the time, especially towards the end of every Temodar cycle. I'm already talked about that ad nauseam ... pun intended.
I trust Rudnick, so while I'm weighing the cost-benefit of this regimen, I realize that he hasn't steered me wrong yet. So, I really have no reason to doubt him. It's been almost 15 months since the diagnosis, and I'm feeling better than anytime since I got sick. Obviously, that counts for a hell of a lot.
