My friend Justin has been hooking me up with some cool new music, some heavy and caustic as fuck, and some of it pensive and moody, like Ida. I'm liking this one track, "Little Things," duo vocals, no drums. Read a little about them that they used to play with Codeine and Low, and that makes perfect sense. It also reminds me of Lori Carson's music, especially songs like "Snow Come Down."
Carson was part of Golden Palominos in the mid 90s ... the second of the two, Pure, was outstanding, probably the best thing they ever did, although Dead Inside was a close second. Amazing musicians, like Bootsy Collins (on guitar, no less), Knox Chandler, Anton Fier, and Bill Laswell, a really facile bass player. Fast dub lines, so cool.
For a while, I was listening to Phillip Glass' Einstein on the Beach. Especially "Trial 1" ... it clocks in at 21:26, frenetic as hell, reminds me a disc skipping. The intensity required to play AND listen to this is exhausting. When it was introduced originally in 1977, it was a marathon concert, something like 5 1/2 hours. No remissions, people were free to come and go. Eventually, it was pared down to "only" 3 1/2 hours for the CD.
Non sequitur time ...
Had an MRI on Friday. No change.
So I've got that going for me.
Rudnick wants to do the next one in 6 weeks, as opposed to two months and change. Since that I'm off Temodar, he wants to make sure that we are staying on top of this. Personally, I'd rather ignore it completely and hope for the best.
(And yes, for people that follow these things on Facebook, that was a lame joke.)
